Price tag for cleaning up per- and polyfluoroalkyl will ‘likely increase significantly’, a congressional report estimates

It will cost the US Department of Defense (DOD) more than $2.1 billion (£1.5 billion) to cleanup per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) contamination on its military bases, according to a new report by the congressional Government Accountability Office (GAO). The Pentagon has identified 687 military installations that have known or suspected releases of these fluorinated chemicals.
